Adjustment

Note: The idle speed is set automatically during warm-up. Only the rotation speed of a warm engine is regulated.

1. Check and adjust the accelerator cable.

2. Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature.

3. Connect the tachometer, measure the idle speed (see "Adjustment data, 300 Tdi engine").

4. If adjustment is necessary, loosen the lock nut of the adjusting screw on the fuel injection pump.

5. Adjust the rotation speed by turning the screw. Run the engine and recheck the adjustment.

6. Tighten the lock nut.

Note: During operation, only idle speed adjustment is permitted. Other adjustments are carried out only at Bosch service stations.
