Turbocharger and gasket (Discovery 1)

Removal

1. Disconnect the battery.

2. Remove the air filter.

3. Remove the exhaust manifold together with the turbocharger.



4. Remove the bypass valve rod retaining ring.

5. Remove 4 bolts and 2 brackets securing the turbocharger to the manifold.

6. Remove the turbocharger and discard the gasket.

Installation

7. Clean the mating surfaces of the turbocharger and exhaust manifold.

8. Reinstall the removed parts. Install a new wastegate valve linkage retaining ring. Tightening torque of the turbocharger mounting bolts is 45 Nm.

9. Check the oil level.
