Removal


NOTE: Remember the position of the bushing.

CAUTION: Never work on a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle with special stands.


Raise and support the vehicle.



2. Remove the muffler assembly. For more information, refer to Muffler (10/30/11)

3. Remove the fuel tank heat shield. Remove 3 bolts and 2 nuts.

CAUTION: Mark the position of the drive shaft flange relative to the pinion flange.


CAUTION: To avoid damage to the hinge or boot, do not allow the drive shaft to hang loose at one end.


Disconnect the drive shaft from the rear axle flange. Remove and discard the 4 Torx head bolts.

CAUTION: Make sure the entire weight of the bridge rests on the stand.


Using a suitable jack, lower the front of the axle. Remove the front axle mounting bolt.

6. Using special tools, remove the axle housing bushings.

Installation


1. Using special tools, install the axle housing bushings.

CAUTION: Make sure the entire weight of the bridge rests on the stand.


Using a suitable jack, raise the front of the differential.
  • Screw in the front axle mounting bolt.
  • Tighten the bolt (tightening torque 275 Nm).

3. Attach the drive shaft to the rear axle flange.
  • Clean the contact surfaces of the parts.
  • Attach the drive shaft to the rear axle flange.
  • Tighten the new Torx head bolts (tightening torque 110 Nm).

4. Install the fuel tank heat shield. Tighten the bolts and nuts. (tightening torque 10 Nm).

5. Install the muffler assembly. For more information, refer to Muffler (10/30/11)
