The accelerator pedal assembly is equipped with APP sensors. (accelerator pedal position sensor).
APP sensors (accelerator pedal position sensor) provide control over the driver's commands to accelerate, decelerate or maintain the vehicle's speed. The sensor signal is used by the ECM (engine control unit) in order to set the throttle valve to the required position using an electric motor built into the throttle body.
APP Sensor Signals (accelerator pedal position sensor) are checked for absolute value and plausibility. Two different reference voltages are supplied to the pedal. If one sensor fails, the signal from the second sensor will be used in the emergency control mode. If the emergency control mode is caused by an incorrect APP signal, (accelerator pedal position sensor), ECM (engine control unit) limits the maximum engine crankshaft speed to 2000 rpm.
