Dismantling
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the camshafts.
ENGINE - MODIFICATION K, volume 1.8, Front exhaust camshaft oil seal, Integral camshaft cover: sealing and replacement of oil seals.
3. Using a magnet, remove the hydraulic compensator from the valve where the cap is to be replaced.
CAUTION: The hydraulic lifters must be in a vertical position, in the order in which they were installed on the engine.

4. Using a 16 mm socket head, remove the spark plug.

5. Screw the LRT-12-142 adapter into the spark plug socket to connect the compressed air line.
6. Connect the compressed air line to the adapter and supply compressed air.

7. Place the LRT-12-142 bushing on the valve spring.
8. Install the LRT-12-142 mandrel on the upper valve spring plate and use sharp hammer blows on the mandrel to loosen the spring.
9. Use a magnet to remove the croutons.
10. Remove the bushing.
11. Remove the valve spring with the upper plate.

12. Remove the valve stem seal using the LRT-12-071 puller. Discard the valve stem seal.
Installation
1. Lubricate the new valve stem seal with engine oil.
2. Using the LRT-12-071 tool, install the new oil seal.
3. Install the valve spring with the plate.

4. Assemble the LRT-12-139 fixture.
5. Install the upper spring plate with the LRT-12-139 valve spring compressor.
6. Compress the valve spring so that the grooves for the crackers come out.
7. Apply grease to the tip of a flat-head screwdriver, "glue" the cracker to the grease and install it on the valve stem.
8. After making sure that the crackers are firmly in place, release the valve spring.
9. Remove the LRT-12-139 valve spring compressor.
10. Wipe the hydraulic compensator and its seat.
11. Lubricate the hydraulic compensator and its seat in the cylinder head with clean engine oil.
12. Install the hydraulic compensator.
13. Disconnect the compressed air line and unscrew the LRT-12-142 adapter.
14. Clean the spark plug and adjust the interelectrode gap to 1.0 mm.
15. Screw in the spark plug and tighten it to a torque of 25 Nm.
16. Place the camshafts.

17. Connect the negative battery terminal.
