Malfunction: low fluid level or clogged filter.
Symptom 2: No reverse gear.
Move the selector to position D:
- no movement: transition to symptom 3;
- there is movement: the reverse gear locking valve is stuck.
Move the selector to position 1:
- no engine braking: Brake defect #3.
Symptom 3: No forward movement (position D).
Move the selector to position 1:
- there is movement: flywheel defect #2;
- no movement: check the pressure in the main line;
- pressure is normal: clutch A;
- no pressure: the filter is clogged or the pump is faulty; low pressure: filter clogged or primary regulator stuck.
Symptom 4: Slipping in all forward gears.
Check the pressure in the main line:
- no pressure: the filter is clogged or the pump is faulty; low pressure: filter clogged or primary regulator stuck;
- pressure is normal: clutch A.
Symptom 5: Abrupt transition of N - D position.
Check the engine idle speed adjustment.
Check the pressure in the main line:
- high pressure: primary regulator defective;
- normal pressure: clutch or damper A.
Symptom 6: Hard shifting of 1-2 gears.
Check the engine idle speed adjustment.
Check the pressure in the main line:
- high blood pressure: go to symptom 5;
- normal pressure: modulator valve or clutch/brake damper CB1 and / or CB2.
Symptom 7: Hard shifting of 2nd - 3rd gears.
Check the pressure in the main line:
- high blood pressure: go to symptom 5;
- normal pressure: modulator valve or clutch damper B or clutch B.
Symptom 8: No 3rd gear engagement.
Malfunction: 2-3 gear shift valve or clutch B.
Symptom 9: No 4th gear engagement.
Malfunction: 3-4 shift valve or 4-3 shift valve or clutch brake 4.
Symptom 10: No direct clutch engagement or hard engagement.
Note: Direct transmission is engaged at speeds of 64-72 km/h.
Conduct road tests with a pressure gauge connected to the torque converter:
- pressure is normal: direct coupling defect;
- the pressure remains high within the normal range: sticking of the direct clutch control valve and torque converter; large hysteresis of the control valve characteristic.
Symptom 11: Incorrect (low) direct clutch engagement speed.
Note: This malfunction is accompanied by vibration of the torque converter.
Check the pressure in the main line and torque converter:
- pressure is normal: regulator valve is stuck; low pressure: Direct clutch control valve and torque converter sticking; large hysteresis characteristic of the control valve
Symptom 12: After starting off, the vehicle immediately switches to 3rd gear.
Malfunction: 2-3 gear shift valve sticking.
Symptom 13: Starting off in 2nd gear.
Malfunction: 1-2 gear shift valve sticking; regulator sleeve sticking.
Symptom 14: Starting off in 3rd gear.
Malfunction: sticking of 1-2 and 2-3 gear shift valves; regulator sleeve sticking.
Symptom 15: No forced shifting from 4th to 3rd gear ("kick-down").
Malfunction: stuck 4-3 gear forced shift valve.
Symptom 16: Gear shifting at inappropriate driving speeds.
Check the kick-down cable adjustment.
Check the pressure in the main line:
- pressure is normal: regulator valve is stuck; low pressure: Incorrect adjustment of the control valve cable; primary regulator valve sticking.
Symptom 17: No upshift at part throttle.
Malfunction: either the regulator valve or the switching valve is stuck.
Symptom 18: No engine braking when selector position 3.
Malfunction: clutch C.
Symptom 19: Delay or no shifting when shifting the selector 3-2.
Malfunction: 2-3 gear shift valve sticking; regulator valve sticking; 2nd gear lock valve sticking.
Symptom 20: Delay or no shifting when shifting the selector 2-1 at speeds below 45 km/h.
Malfunction: 1-2 gear shift valve sticking; regulator valve sticking; 1st gear lock valve sticking.
Symptom 21: No engine braking when selector position 1.
Malfunction: clutch brake 3.
Symptom 22: No engine braking when selector position 2.
Malfunction: Clutch brake 1.
Symptom 23: The vehicle moves with the selector in position N.
Fault: Clutch A.
