Vacuum pump — for cars with Td4 engine and automatic transmission (Freelander 1)

Dismantling

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Remove the cylinder head valve cover.

ENGINE - Td4, Inlet and outlet camshafts, Valve cover gasket.

3. To facilitate assembly, mark the location of the EGR pipe and cooler.

4. Loosen the clamps securing the EGR pipes to the cooler and move the clamps to the side.

5. Remove the pipe, cooler and EGR valve.



6. Unscrew the bolt securing the fuel rail to the support bracket.

7. Loosen the bolt securing the intercooler pipe to the support bracket.

8. Remove the lower engine protection shield.

9. Loosen the bolt securing the turbocharger outlet pipe to the upper manifold of the cooling system.





10. Remove the 2 bolts securing the pipe support bracket to the engine lifting bracket. Remove the support bracket.



11. Loosen the clamp and remove the vacuum hose.

12. Unscrew and discard the 2 vacuum pump mounting bolts.

13. Remove the 3 bolts securing the EGR cooler to the cylinder head and lifting bracket.

14. Move the EGR cooler aside to gain access to the vacuum pump.



15. Remove the vacuum pump and discard the sealing ring.

Installation

1. Clean the vacuum pump and mating surfaces from dirt.

2. Install a new sealing ring on the vacuum pump. Install the vacuum pump and tighten the new bolts to 22 Nm.

3. Install the EGR cooler in place, tighten the bolts and tighten them to 25 Nm.

4. Install the pipe support bracket onto the engine lifting bracket, install the bolts and tighten them to 25 Nm.

5. Connect the vacuum hose and tighten the clamp.

6. Tighten the turbocharger outlet pipe mounting bolt to the cooling system manifold to 25 Nm.

7. Reinstall the lower engine protection shield.

8. Install the intercooler pipe mounting bolt to the support bracket and tighten it to 10 Nm.

9. Tighten the fuel rail mounting bolt to the support bracket and tighten it to 10 Nm.

10. Connect the EGR pipe to the cooler, put on the clamp, but do not tighten it completely until you install the valve cover.

11. Install the EGR pipe clamp and tighten the screw.

12. Install the cylinder head valve cover.

13. Connect the negative battery terminal.
