Dismantling
1. Disconnect "negative" battery terminal.
2. Drain the engine coolant.
COOLING SYSTEM: MOD. K, KV6 engine, ADJUSTMENTS, Coolant drain, system flush and fill.
3. Remove the right front wheel.
4. Turn away 3 bolts of fastening of the right dirt-protective panel and remove the panel.
5. Place a container under the oil filter to collect the escaping oil.
6. Loosen the nuts securing the heat exchanger hose tips to the oil filter head, remove the hoses and discard the 2 O-rings.
ATTENTION: Damage to the threaded boss leads to failure of the heat exchanger. Always plug fittings and openings to keep dirt out of the system.
7. Install a container to collect escaping coolant.
8. Loosen the two clamps and disconnect the cooling system hoses from the engine oil cooling heat exchanger.
CAUTION: Always plug fittings and openings to keep dirt out of the system.
9. Turn away 4 nuts of fastening of the heat exchanger of cooling of engine oil to an arm and take away the heat exchanger aside.
10. Taking care not to damage the lugs on the heat exchanger housing, unscrew the nuts and remove the hose ends from the heat exchanger, remove and discard the 2 O-rings.
CAUTION: Always plug fittings and openings to keep dirt out of the system.
Installation
1. Wipe the heat exchanger hose ends and mating surfaces.
2. Lubricate new O-rings with clean engine oil and install them on the hose ends.
3. Insert the ends of the hoses into the heat exchanger body and, while holding the lugs of the body, tighten the nuts to a torque of 26 Nm.
CAUTION: To avoid damaging the components, loosen and tighten the nuts while holding the fitting with a second wrench.
4. Install the heat exchanger on the bracket, screw in the bolts and tighten them to a torque of 25 Nm.
5. Insert the hose ends into the filter head and tighten the fastening nuts to a torque of 26 Nm.
6. Put the cooling system hoses on the heat exchanger and secure them with clamps.
7. Install the mudguard panel and secure it with bolts.
8. Reinstall the right wheel and tighten the nuts to 115 Nm.
9. Fill the cooling system with coolant.
COOLING SYSTEM: MOD. K, KV6 engine, ADJUSTMENTS, Coolant drain, system flush and fill.
10. Attach "negative" battery terminal.
11. Check the oil level and top up if necessary.
