Removal
All cars
1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. For more information, refer to Specification.
2. Remove the timing belt and discard it. For more information, refer to Timing Belt (12.65.18)

CAUTION: Never work on a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle with special stands.
Raise and support the vehicle.
Cars with automatic transmission
4. Remove the special tool.

Cars with manual transmission
5. Remove the special tool.

All cars
6. Install the special tool.

7. Loosen the crankshaft pulley mounting bolt.
8. Using a special tool, release the crankshaft pulley mount.

9. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
- Remove the crankshaft pulley mounting bolt.
- Discard the bolt as it is no longer needed.

10. Install the special tool on the crankshaft.

11. Using the special tool, remove the front crankshaft seal.
- Remove the special tool.
- Remove the seal from the special tool and discard.

Installation
All cars
1.
CAUTION: Do not apply lubricants to the front crankshaft oil seal, special tools or crankshaft. Failure to follow this instruction may result in vehicle damage.
NOTE: Make sure the contact surfaces of the parts are clean.
Install the new front crankshaft oil seal using the special tool.

2. Move the front crankshaft oil seal along the special tool. Remove the bushing from the special tool.

3. Install the special tool on the crankshaft.

4. Install the special tool on the crankshaft.

CAUTION: Make sure the oil seal is installed correctly.
Using the special tool, install the front crankshaft oil seal. Use the discarded crankshaft bolt together with the special tool.

CAUTION: Make sure the oil seal is installed correctly.
Remove the special tool. Unscrew and discard the crankshaft pulley mounting bolt.
7. Install the crankshaft pulley.
- Install a new crankshaft pulley mounting bolt.
- Tighten the mounting bolt in two stages:
- Step 1: Tightening torque 100 Nm.
- Step 2: Tighten the bolt another 90 degrees.
Cars with manual transmission
9. Install the special tool.

Cars with automatic transmission
10. Install the special tool.

All cars
11. Install a new timing belt. For more information, refer to Timing Belt (12.65.18)
12. Connect the ground cable to the battery. For more information, refer to Specification.
