Removal


All cars
1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. For more information, refer to Specification.

2. Remove the timing belt and discard it. For more information, refer to Timing Belt (12.65.18)

CAUTION: Never work on a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle with special stands.


Raise and support the vehicle.

4. Remove the special tool.

6. Install the special tool.

7. Loosen the crankshaft pulley mounting bolt.

8. Using a special tool, release the crankshaft pulley mount.

9. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
  • Remove the crankshaft pulley mounting bolt.
  • Discard the bolt as it is no longer needed.

10. Install the special tool on the crankshaft.

11. Using the special tool, remove the front crankshaft seal.
  • Remove the special tool.

1.
CAUTION: Do not apply lubricants to the front crankshaft oil seal, special tools or crankshaft. Failure to follow this instruction may result in vehicle damage.


NOTE: Make sure the contact surfaces of the parts are clean.


Install the new front crankshaft oil seal using the special tool.

CAUTION: Make sure the oil seal is installed correctly.

CAUTION: Make sure the oil seal is installed correctly.




Remove the special tool. Unscrew and discard the crankshaft pulley mounting bolt.

7. Install the crankshaft pulley.
  • Install a new crankshaft pulley mounting bolt.
  • Tighten the mounting bolt in two stages:
  • Step 1: Tightening torque 100 Nm.
  • Step 2: Tighten the bolt another 90 degrees.
8. Remove the special tool.
