The tail light assembly is a single unit that includes: brake/tail light, turn signal, reversing light and fog light. In total, there are five lamps with bayonet mount in the common unit (six lamps - for vehicles supplied in the USA, for which a side marker lamp is added). The lamp sockets are inserted into the holes in the lantern body and fixed by turning. Each cartridge is connected by wires to a connector located on the back of the flashlight housing.
The rear light assembly is built into a recess in the vehicle body. The rear light housing is attached to the car body with two studs located along the outer edge of the housing. The lamp is attached with two screws, which are located on the inner edge of the housing near the opening of the tailgate.
Stop/tail light
The top light is both a brake light and a position light, which uses a 21/5 W lamp with a bayonet base. A 21 W incandescent lamp is used for the brake light, and a 5 W for the position lamp.
The brake light comes on when the ignition is in ignition 6 power mode and the brake pedal switch is active and closes when the brake pedal is depressed. At the same time, when the brake pedal is pressed, the upper brake light is turned on. Stoplights can also be enabled by anti-lock brakes (ABS) with active descent control (HDC). The ABS module sends a message to the CJB over the high speed CAN bus that energizes the brake lights and high brake light.
The position lamps are switched on by selecting the position of the position lamps or headlights with the light switch. The side lights can always be on, regardless of whether the ignition 6 power mode is on. The side lights will also be on if the light switch module is in the AUTO position and the CJB receives a signal from the rain/light sensor to turn on the outside lights.
Turn indicator
The top light is both a brake light and a position light, which uses a 21/5 W lamp with a bayonet base. Vehicles from model year 2009 use 'Silvervision' lamp.
The direction indicators are activated by the left multifunction switch on the steering column or by the hazard switch. The multifunction switch on the steering column only works when the ignition is in power mode 6, the hazard warning light switch is always on. The direction indicators operate with an on/off cycle of 360ms.
If the bulb burns out, the other turn signal bulb on that side of the vehicle flashes at the normal rate. However, the corresponding indicator lamp in the instrument cluster warns the driver of a burned-out lamp by flashing at double the frequency.
Reversing lamp
The reversing light is located next to the turn signal. It has a 21 W lamp with a bayonet mount.
The reversing light comes on when the ignition is in Ignition Power Mode 6 and the CJB receives a reverse gear engagement signal via the medium speed CAN bus. The automatic transmission is equipped with a limit switch that reacts to reverse gear engagement.
Rear fog lamp
The rear fog light is located at the very bottom of the rear light. It has a 21 W lamp with a bayonet mount.
The rear fog lights are controlled by the light switch module. When the ignition switch is in Ignition 6 power mode and the lighting control module is in the parking lights or headlights position, the rear fog lamp button on the lighting control module can be pressed to activate the rear fog lamps. When you turn on the rear fog lights on the instrument panel, the corresponding control lamp turns on.
Side marker lamp
(US market vehicles only). The rear fog light is located at the very bottom of the rear light. It has a 21 W lamp with a bayonet mount.
The side marker lamp, installed in the socket, is located in the opening in the rear lamp housing and must be turned to fix it. The side marker lights are always active when the side marker lights are selected to be switched on using the light control module. The side marker lights will also turn on if the light control module's rotary switch is in the AUTO position and CJB receives a signal from the ambient light sensor to turn on the outside lights.
