Dismantling


1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

CAUTION: Fuel vapors are highly flammable, and they are also toxic and explosive in a confined space. When working with fuel, it is necessary to have a foam type, carbon dioxide (CO₂), gas or powder fire extinguisher on hand.


2. Remove the intake manifold gaskets.

3. Remove the starter.

5. Remove the accessory drive belt.

6. Unscrew the plug of the mounting window in the timing drive cover and dispose of the gasket.

7. Unscrew the fuel pump drive sprocket fastening nut.

8. Install the LRT-12-178/2 mandrel into the timing cover.

9. Install the LRT-12-178/1 puller on the fuel pump sprocket and, tightening the central bolt of the puller, remove the sprocket from the pump.

CAUTION: Do not remove the puller from the sprocket until the fuel pump is installed.

10. Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump.

11. Loosen the bolt securing the fuel pipe bracket to the oil filter head.

12. Unscrew the bolt securing the fuel rail to the cooling system pipe.

13. Place a rag under the fuel pump to collect any leaking fuel.

CAUTION: Avoid spilling oil or liquid on the generator.

14. Unscrew the 2 clamps and disconnect the fuel hoses from the pump.

15. Loosen the 2 nuts and remove the high-pressure fuel pipe. Remove the pipe support sleeve.



CAUTION: Always plug the fittings and holes to protect the system from dirt.


16. Disconnect the caps from the glow plugs of the 1st and 2nd cylinders and move them away from the fuel pump.

17. Unscrew the 3 nuts, release and remove the fuel pump. Discard the gasket.

Installation


1. Wipe the fuel pump and mating surfaces.

2. Install a new fuel pump gasket.

3. Install the fuel pump in place and tighten the mounting nuts. Tightening torque 24 Nm.

4. Place the caps on the glow plugs.

5. Wipe the high pressure fittings.

6. Install the support sleeve on the high pressure pipe, fit the nuts onto the pipe and tighten them to a torque of 20 Nm.

7. Connect the fuel hoses to the pump and tighten the clamps.

8. Screw in the low-pressure fuel pipe mounting bolts and tighten them. Tightening torque 10 Nm.

9. Connect the connector to the pump.

10. Remove the LRT-12-178/2 mandrel and the LRT-12-178/1 puller.

11. Screw on the fuel pump sprocket mounting nut and tighten it. Tightening torque 65 Nm.

12. Wipe the mounting hole plug.

13. Install a new seal on the plug, screw in the plug and tighten it to a torque of 30 Nm.



14. Install the accessory drive belt.

15. Install the hydraulic support.

ENGINE - Td4, Inlet and outlet camshafts, Right engine hydraulic support.


16. Reinstall the starter.

ENGINE STARTING AND BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM, REPAIR WORK, Starter - Td4 engine.


17. Install the intake manifold gaskets.

COLLECTORS AND EXHAUST SYSTEM - Td4, REPAIR WORK, Intake manifold gaskets.


18. Connect the negative battery terminal.
