Power steering pump (TDi engine) (Discovery 1)

Removal

1. Remove the fan together with the viscous coupling.

2. Loosen the three pump pulley mounting bolts.



3. Remove the accessory drive belt.

4. Remove the three pulley mounting bolts and the pulley.

5. Remove the engine protection.

6. Place a container under the pump to collect the liquid.

7. Disconnect the supply hose from the pump.

8. Disconnect the high pressure hose from the pump.

Note: Cap hoses and fittings.

9. Unscrew the 4 pump mounting bolts and remove the pump.

Installation

10. Install the pump. Tighten the mounting bolts to 35 Nm.

11. Connect the high pressure hose. Tighten the fastening nut to a torque of 20 Nm.

12. Connect the supply hose.



13. Apply Loctite 242 adhesive to the threads of the pump pulley mounting bolts. Install the pulley and tighten the bolts to a torque of 10 N·m.

14. Reinstall the removed parts.

15. Bleed the steering system.
