2. Check the fluid level in the power steering pump reservoir.
3. Check for fluid leaks at the connection points of tubes and hoses. Fix any leaks before performing the inspection.
4. Check the tension of the power steering pump drive belt.
5. Connect the pressure gauge as shown in the figure.
A - steering gear, B - pump, C - hose, D - hose LRT-57-002, E - tap LRT-57-001, G - adapter LRT-57-034, H - adapter LRT-57-035.
Steering gear
1 - housing with sector bearings, 2 - cover with sector bearing, 3 - sector shaft, 4 - rack with booster piston, 5 - worm and valve shaft, 6 - adjusting washers, 7 - bearing, 8 - valve sleeve oil seals, 9 - bearing adjustment unit, 10 - oil seal, retaining ring and boot of the worm shaft, 11 - piston seals, 12 - oil seal cover and retaining ring, 13 - rack adjustment unit, 14 - tube, 15 - drain screw, 16 - lock nut and seals of the sector shaft adjustment unit, 17 - bolt, 18 - seal, 19 - seal unit, 20 - retaining ring and boot.
6. Open the tap (E) and remove air from the system.

7. In normal system conditions the pressure should be equal to (wheels at minimum turning radius stop):
- a) 70-77 bar at 1000 rpm
- b) 28 bar at idle
8. Conduct the check on the right and left turn stops.
9. When setting the steered wheels to the straight-ahead position, the pressure should be equal to 7 bar.
If the pressure is not equal to the specified:
- 10. Close the adapter valve for no more than 5 seconds. If the pressure does not change, the pump is faulty.
- 11. Install the new pump. If the pressure remains below the specified value, there is a defect in the steering mechanism (valve, wear).
