Checking fuel pressure (Discovery 1)

Attention: Observe fire safety precautions.


Before starting the test, relieve any residual pressure in the fuel system.

1. Remove the fuel pump relay.

2. Start the engine.

3. After the engine stalls, turn off the ignition.

4. Disconnect the battery.

5. Install a pressure gauge on the fuel filter outlet (the filter is installed on the frame under the rear right wheel arch).

6. Connect the battery and fuel pump relay. Turn on the ignition: the fuel pressure should be 2.3 - 2.5 bar. Turn off the ignition: the pressure should not drop more than 0.6 bar within a minute.

If the pressure is lower than specified, check the condition of the fuel filter and the operation of the fuel pump. If everything is normal, replace the fuel pressure regulator.
