1. Place the car on a lift.
2. Disconnect the battery.

4. Drain the oil. Replace the drain plug.
5. Remove the exhaust manifold downpipe heat shield from the exhaust manifold.
6. Disconnect the oxygen sensor connectors.
7. Remove the catalytic converter.
8. Remove the frame cross member under the box.

9. Disconnect the dipstick tube from the pan, release the tube from the clip on the torque converter housing, and move the tube to the side.
10. Unscrew the tray fasteners. Remember the installation locations.
11. Remove the pan and gasket.
12. Loosen the mounting bolts and remove the oil deflector plate and oil intake. Hold the oil pickup spacer.
13. Loosen the control unit mounting bolts.

Replacing the oil seal
14. Remove the retaining rings and take out the springs.
15. Using the LST 113 puller, remove the oil seal.

16. Wash the oil seal seats, check the condition of the springs and retaining rings.
17. Using the LST 113 puller, install the new oil seal.
18. Install the spring and retaining ring.
Installation
19. Install the control unit on the automatic transmission, placing the control valve behind the cam. Engage the selector quadrant with the manual control valve.
20. Lightly tighten the mounting screws.
21. Manually move the valve actuator to the fully open position.

22. Install an LST 109 gauge between the valve pin and the control unit.
23. Adjust the distance between the control unit and the cam.
24. Remove the gauge and close the valve.
25. Reinstall the removed parts.
